Weekend Roundup
Quick’n'dirty cos I can’t be arsed fleshing it out for the most part…
Friday: Ben’s last day at work, and Daniel handed his notice in, so why not leave a bit early and hit the pub eh? Went to the Kingston for a few, left around 6:15 and strolled home to meet Nolene. Went to the movies to see Lucky Number Slevin. Cool movie, I’d give it 8 out of 10.. kinda funny at the beginning cos I was definitely a bit tipsy but sobered up nicely as the movie progressed. Went to Moxies for food afterwards, then came home and crashed out.
Saturday: Bit of a blah/do nothing kind of day.. wanted to get my hair cut but couldn’t till 4pm.. Did that then hit Lonsdale Quay for the wicked good chicken curry. Back downtown, home, veg, chill, then decided to grab a movie (not realising that I’d actually been to the movies the previous 3 nights in a row, obviously!). Saw Brick which was pretty cool - I’d give it 7 out of 10.. kind of film noire but set in a modern day high school. A bit quirky, a bit different, but worth a look I reckon.
Sunday: Stayed in bed for the longest time but was prompted to get up by a phone call from Mike - did I fancy coffee? Sure! Quickest shower ever, then round to Tim Hortons, which was heaving so we said fuck it and went to Dennys. Weird when I was paying too, cos they asked me to punch in the PIN for my Visa card which I’ve never been asked to do in Canada. And of course, I was using the UK card that I’m not 100% sure of the PIN for.. DOH! Paid with a different card in the end, oh the embarrassment!
Hung out with Brian in the afternoon - grabbed food at Granville Island then went for a walk along the sea wall round False Creek. Interesting talks… questions asked, some answers given, some probing, and some answers elaborated.. and mostly in one direction - I think it’s fair to say that I’ve possibly been playing my cards pretty close to my chest and maybe not being quite as clear with certain things as I maybe could be. No hassle, no drama - totally cool time hanging out and talking about stuff.. I think he probably has a better understanding now of some stuff I’ve said but maybe not fully explained.. like we say back home (kudos to Bob Hoskins): “It’s Good To Talk” :-)

Tired
If today was Tuesday I’d have titled this entry “Tired Tuesday” because “Tired Thursday” just doesn’t have that nice alliterative ring to it, does it?
Monday night was a late one.. like really late.. just stayed up watching TV and stuff.. Tuesday was lateish, should have gone to bed around 11:15 but decided to watch 24 and ended up hitting the sack around 12:30.. and suffering for it yesterday morning.. then last night I went out with Brian and Josh.. food then a movie, which started at 10:00.. home just before 12 but we all chatted till around 1ish when they both went home.. really tired this morning.. did the snooze alarm thing for over half an hour then finally dragged my sorry ass out of bed and in to work.. which has been slowish this week, on and off..
So Monday’s podcast.. what do you reckon? I dunno.. I’ve listened back to it once.. need to hear it again really.. trying to suss out a) the music and b) me.. not sure whether I’d class it as a “good” one or not - I can barely remember doing it right now..
Hung out with Brian and Josh last night and it’s fair to say I may have been slightly hyperactive with it. No booze for me, but I had been to the gym after work, so maybe that was it.. Had food at Earls then hit Tinseltown to see Thank You for Smoking. Not bad, I’d give ie 7 out of 10.. We all came back to mine and had a bit chat about life and what makes you happy.. Brian’s been hating his new job for a while now, and quit today! On one hand, life isn’t always easy, everyone has bad days or weeks at work.. but on the other hand when it drags you down day after day after day, there has to come a point where you say enough’s enough! He’s still living at home, roof over his head, money in the bank - he can quit the day job without being out on his ear so… why not?
[a whole bunch of time passes, I go out with Kevin, we watch Stay Alive (awful movie, IMDB says 2.7 out of 10, I say 1 maybe 2), he goes home, I find myself up late AGAIN..]
Seeing as I’m up late, I might as well finish off this bloody entry then frig the posting time so it shows up on the right day..
What else has been going on this week? Hmm.. I’ve had lunch with a different girl every day this week.. which would either make me a stud or a man slut.. but considering 4 out of the 5 are people I work with, and we’re all friends, it really is ok.. Monday was Maddy, Tuesday was Bonnie, Wednesday I met Julia (the non-colleague), today I had lunch with Charlotte and tomorrow I’m going out with Michele. Woot! :-)
Out last night with Brian and Josh, Brian pulled me on his positioning my Myspace Top 8.. which made me laugh.. “You put me after Shawn!” he says.. “Yeah, sure” I reply.. it’s not a popularity contest or a ranked/ordered thing, Shawn was pretty much my first linked friend on Myspace (I’m trying to remember how/why - I think I signed up after he did maybe? not sure..) then I had to swap a few people round once my friend count went above 8 (which was when Brian appeared on my list). Then I ask where I am on his.. #2 apparently.. so.. the difference is, uh, what exactly? That was yesterday, and today I’m #3.. sliding down the popularity scale there Paul? LMAO :-) It’s allll good! It’s the top 8.. mine aren’t ordered in any significant manner - Myspace should jumble them randomly with every page view to stop this kind of thing.. maybe I’ll let the bloke know..
In other news - I still love Sigur Ros. They played Hoppipolla on Radio 1 this morning using it as trail music for an advert for the BBCs newish series called Planet Earth. If you go to the BBC website you can see the current trailer, it’s pretty good.. makes me want to see the show actually.. and makes me want to see Sigur Ros in concert again. Seattle’s sold out.. Portland isn’t.. neither is Southampton in the UK in June or July sometime.. hmm.. anyone fancy it? ;-)
Right.. at 1am, it’s time to frig the posting time and hit the sack.. fucksake, another late night..

Podcast 32: The One With New Background Music
This week’s podcast is different. It has new background music, and I did a bit of pre-production so it’s exactly 30 minutes long - not a second longer, not a second shorter.. so check it out and see what you think.. and please leave feedback on the new music versus the old - the levels might not be quite right but what do you think of it generally?
Link: podcast32.mp3 (30:00, 13.7Mb)
In this week’s show:
- The week in review
- New music for the podcast!
- Chris Moyles and the He-Man theme tune
- More poo talk from Wankergirl
- Shout outs to JunK-Y, his girlfriend, and Cisco exam passing Mike
- Prison Break and the bounds of believability
- …and a ton of other random waffling!
Audio Feedback: The phone number given out in last week’s show (and this week’s!) is active for another week.. this is your chance to leave random crazy feedback and hear it on next week’s show! Get the number from the last 60 seconds of the podcast then get that finger dialing the digits!

Weekend Roundup
I know, I KNOW! Actually posting the weekend roundup at the end of the weekend rather than a day or two later? Whatever next?!
Friday: Went to the Kingston after work for a few drinks. Chatted it up a bit, had a laugh, came home, nipped to Tim Horton’s for food, then spent the rest of the night vegging/chilling and catching up on TV - stuff that I’d recorded during the week but hadn’t gotten round to watching yet. Did laundry and had a blissful night’s sleep on crispy clean sheets :-)
Saturday: Got up, mooched around, vegged, chilled.. went out with Tim to see Slither which was mostly lame but vaguely entertaining with it. Think horror flick meets satirical TV comedy sitcom - it’s like, it’s meant to be a horror movie, and there are your stereotypical scary moments, but there’s also humour in there too - the audience all laughed at quite a few points. Genuine humour though, not try-hard slapstick spoof humour a la Scary Movie etc.
Went out with Michelle in the evening and had a totally good time. Met her at the SkyTrain, hit Moxies on Robson, shared some appies and had a few drinks.. then a few more (of both).. then went and caught a 10:30 showing of V for Vendetta which, yes, I’ve already seen, but I was totally up for seeing it again. Totally cool - I fucking love that movie! I’ll definitely be buying it when it comes out on DVD. Walked Michelle back to the SkyTrain, came home myself, mucked around online for a bit and stayed up FAR too late.. and the clocks going forward didn’t help either - I feel robbed! I want my hour back!
Sunday: Woke up far too early.. snoozed and dozed for a bit.. was just in the middle of some weird dream where I was back home in Jersey, but doing my podcast, and ranting and raving about the guy at The Beat 94.5 who hadn’t replied to my application for a part time on air position when the phone went.. Chatted to Brian for a bit on his way to work, then got up and mooched around a bit. I was meant to meet Julia for lunch but she was non-responsive to a text message and a phone call + voicemail so.. alien abduction on the North Shore strikes again? Who knows..
I hit Lonsdale Quay for lunch, and had wicked good chicken curry with rice and nan bread (nan or naan? Google says 791,000 matches for nan and 430,000 hits for naan. Hmm.. I thought it was naan). Came back downtown, sorted out some bits and pieces, then met up with Brian and went to Moxies on Robson (again?! I know!) for food. Back to mine afterwards and we FINALLY watched Prison Break! Woot! Only time for 1 episode but at least we’re almost up to date now. I like that show, but at the same time it’s totally fucking rediculous - it stretches the bounds of believability and coincendence WAY far..
And that’s that! Weekend was pretty sociable, pretty fun, and pretty much over far too quickly… Back to the grind tomorrow for another fun packed week at work! Bring it on! :-)
