So I didn’t podcast last week.. and given a few of the thoughts I’d vocalised the week previous, you’d be forgiven for thinking I’d chucked the towel in.. But fear not, dear listener - here I am, back with a vengeance and raring to go.. well.. I’m back at least.

I’m all about the potty humour.. so when this hit my inbox at work on Friday, I knew I had to share :-)
It would seem that someone within the ranks passed wind whilst on the balcony - much to the amusement of all. Notice HM the Queen’s face in the first two photos, then look at her final expression in picture three. How guilty does HRH the Duke of Edinburgh look?
They say time flies when you’re having fun. I did my first podcast a year and a day ago, on August 13th 2005. Fast forward to a year later, and I’ve done 49 more, making this not only my 1 year anniversary podcast, but also my golden anniversary (50 = gold, right?) one as well!

Ok, so I didn’t quite follow up with that profound stuff I promised in my previous blog entry.. *shrugs* what can you do eh? you just can’t get the staff these days….
So what’s new in the world of Paul? Not much.. same old, same old.. the weekend flew by faster than you can say “holy fuck back to work already?!”
Friday: Out with Derek and Tammy who were in town from back home. Met for drinks at the Hotel Vancouver then hit The Keg. Good times, hearing what they’ve been up to on their holiday - all sorts of adventures.. mountain biking, bungy jumping, the works.. Then we got on to the me and Brian situation and that’s where things got “interesting”. Tammy was quite opinionated on the subject (phrases including “Well that’s just wrong isn’t it!” and “Bollocks! You can’t say that!”). Fuelled by beer and some old fashioned British logic and reasoning, it made perfect sense to be a bit crazy and wild, move out of the comfort zone.
To cut a long story short, I ended up going to meet Brian when he got off work around 12ish, we ended up in Boston Pizza having more beers and cheesy bread (uh Uh UH!) . Then things got a bit emotional, I got a bit teary eyed, and I’m sitting there - face in hands - feeling like a weepy girl.. oh the humility! It was all good, not too fucked up or anything, the night ended fine, then there I was walking home across the Granville bridge at 3am in uncomfortable shoes - BZZZZT!
Saturday: Woke up earlier than I’d have liked, feeling decidedly dodgy. A bit hungover, headachey, dry mouth, and tired. Slobbed it for a bit, then got up, shave, shower, felt vaguely more human but decided I needed some good wholesome nourishing food.. Granville Island here I come! Turkey bacon roll, loaded with veggies, followed by a healthy smoothie from the fruit’n’salad place - mmm, feeling better! Hung out with Brian for a bit then walked home to veg and chill.. did some much needed cleaning and tidying, sorted the bathroom out (finally!), took the trash and recycling out.
I had a really good chat with Craig back home on the phone too. Apparently I’d texted him in my drunken state whilst staggering home the night before (who knew? not me, that’s for sure!). Totally cool to catch up, find out what’s been going on back home, tell him what’s been going on this end.. we both get the current situation with each other cos it’s kinda similar. It’s funny how that works, not talking for ages, then getting back in touch and pretty much just picking up where you left off - it’s a sign of true friendship I think. Some people can fade away and you don’t care too much - others you wish were round a bit more, but accept the differences in location, life, whatever.. but when you can get in touch out of the blue and it just clicks and is cool etc? yeah - spot on! (that just a British thing? hmm.. maybe!)
Tentative evening plans to hang out with Justin fell through so I ended up going for a quick bite to eat with Josh. Hit Earls on Broadway, had some chili chicken, shot the shit, then went our separate ways. I come home and I’m crashed out watching TV but half falling asleep. I realise that the previous night’s lack of sleep is catching up with me so I should probably just call it quits and hit the sack.. at 11:50pm.. on a Saturday.. WTF?! I’m in bed 5 minutes when Simon phones, trying to drag my ass out on the town, meet his sisters, party on party people etc.. BZZZZT no, not happening - I’m wiped. Full marks for being persistant and trying to persuade me, but it ain’t happening buddy!
Sunday: BLISS! Woke up earlyish.. went back to sleep.. got up later.. felt properly refreshed and not at all hungover! Pissed around a bit, tidied up my email, listened to Dance Anthems on Radio 1, did laundry, called the parents. Plans to have late lunch with Dan fell through - he was conspicuous by his absence, couldn’t be raised via MSN or phone (and later denied getting my voicemail? Hmm.. suspect!) To be fair, there was drama his end though.. things come up, plans change, it happens..
Hung out with Brian for a bit, tentative plans to hit the movies but we never got round to it - ended up trogging round town instead, getting bits and pieces. I bought the V For Vendetta DVD (result!) and he got that Brain Age game for his Nintendo. Seems pretty cool - lots of fun puzzles and stuff.. Swung by Chapters on the way home for a couple of magazines. Came back to mine and phoned Josh - tentative plans to go eat and catch a movie tonight but they didn’t quite materialise. It sounds like par for the course this weekend, but it really wasn’t an issue - it was more a dynamic changeable weekend where things changed, you dealt, it turned out alright.
Bummed around tonight, did a couple of hours of work that was a bit overdue, and here we are - coming up on midnight, I’m ready for bed, and I really didn’t get any rel8.com stuff done like I’d planned.. BZZZT.. oh well, there’s always next week.. the physical aspect of the project should be arriving towards the end of the week.. printed products.. “interesting” ;-)
I had more profound thoughs on stuff, people, life, being “real” and a whole other bunch of random stuff, but it’s getting late and I need my bed (with fresh sheets - mmm!) so I’ll save it for tomorrow.. maybe it’ll be in the podcast, maybe I’ll blog it - we’ll see..
In the spirit of not being a slack arsed twat, here I am, updating my blog…
What’s to report? Not a lot.. CRAZY busy long weekend.. Had people in town from the UK, people in from Washington, people heading off to Australia, the works! The concise version is: Hung out with James and Emma, said goodbye to Shawn, hung out with Jeremy and Nick, hung out with John, then James and Emma again, hung out with Justin, went back to work.. PHEW!
Hmm.. this is more like a Weekend Roundup entry than a Midweek Update entry so far eh? Yeah, maybe we’ll leave it at that and I’ll go on to write something more profound momentarily…?
I was really wound up by something that happened on my way home this afternoon so I figured I’d do my podcast a day early, be all angry and emotional and fired up with it, then not have to worry about podcasting tomorrow - I can just enjoy my day off, the end of my long weekend!
